Charlene Proeger, Ph.D., LMFT, CMC

Dr. Proeger is an experienced Professional Geriatric Care Manager who has owned her own elder care management business since 1993. She is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and qualified for national certification as a Certified Care Manager (CMC) in 1997. She is a Registered Guardian in the state of Florida. Her experience includes over 40 years of providing mental health services and coordinating community resources for clients and families.

Dr. Proeger was a Director of the Board of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) from 2002-2007 and served a two year term on the Executive Committee in 2004 and 2005. She chaired the Chapter Development Committee from 2002-2007. She was honored with the NAPGCM President's Award in 2003 and has been a Fellow in the NAPGCM Leadership Academy since 2003. She has chaired the Standards Committee since 2008. She was appointed to the Ethics Task Force in 2008. In 2011 she was appointed to the Alliances & Liaisons Committee to enhance the working relationship between NAELA (National Association of Elder Law Attorneys) and NAPGCM.

In 2008 she was selected as a Subject Matter Expert by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers. She was also appointed as an advisor to the Governance Task Force for the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care managers. She served on the Nominating Committee for the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers in 2008.
Additional national committees

She served as President of the Florida Geriatric Care Managers Association (FGCMA) from May 1998 through December 2000, and was on the board from 1996 to 2003. She served as consultant to the FGCMA board from 2004 to 2007, coordinating leadership training for the Chapter. She chaired the Long Range Planning Committee in 2008. The Florida Chapter has recognized Dr. Proeger's contributions. Her peers chose her for the Outstanding Chapter Member award in 1999 and 2002. Additional memberships

Dr. Proeger served as an adjunct Instructor at the University of South Florida, teaching a graduate level course in the Department of Gerontology (January - April 2001). She was an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the University of Florida, and has provided supervision for graduate students in counseling.

Additionally, she makes presentations to caregivers, professionals, and community organizations on a wide variety of topics related to the elderly. She has provided leadership training to Care Managers on the National and Chapter levels.

Barbara Levison, MA, MSW, CMC

Ms. Levison received her BSW from Cornell University in 1992 and her MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 1994. In addition, she received a master's degree in Jewish Studies from Baltimore Hebrew University in 1994 and is a graduate of the Baltimore Institute for Jewish Communal Service.

Ms. Levison has provided care management services with Proeger & Associates since January 1997.

She received her certification in Care Management in 2007 through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers and is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.

Her prior work experience includes a position with a home health agency providing social work assessments of client's needs for a variety of community services. Additionally, she has held a position as director of social services at a long-term-care facility.

Ms. Levison currently serves as the Unit Chairperson of the Florida Geriatric Care Management Association West Coast Unit. she also participates on the Unit Leader Committee for the Florida Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers. She is also serving on the 2012 Alzheimer's Association Walk Committee for Sarasota.

Mindy J. Zelitt, MA, CMC

Ms. Zelitt joined Proeger & Associates in 2004. She received her Master's of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida in 1996 and her Bachelor's of Social Work in 1991. She has been a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers and the Florida Geriatric Care Managers Association since 2004.  She received her certification in care management through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers in 2007.

 

Since 2004,  Ms. Zelitt has been involved with committees in the aging network. She has headed the hospitality committee for the Manatee Aging Network since 2004.  In 2006 she was a committee member for the Senior Friendship Center’s annual Fall Festival. She assisted with the Florida Geriatric Care Managers conference committee for the 2008 annual conference, securing sponsor & vendor participation.

 

Her prior work experience includes Mental Health Therapist at the Family Counseling Center in Sarasota, Florida, case manager at Manatee Glens, and case manager for the Easter Seals Adult Day Health Care Center.

Lorraine Livingston, RN, BSN, MN

Mrs. Livingston has been employed as a care manager with Proeger & Associates since November 2005.

Mrs. Livingston was an assistant professor of nursing in the Health Sciences Department of State College of Florida (formerly MCC) from 1996 to 2010. Her duties included supervision of nursing students, assuring that plans of care were developed, implemented, and monitored, as well as teaching the nursing process.

Prior to that, Mrs. Livingston worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with Sarasota Psychiatric Group (1988-1996), providing assessments of cognitive function and monitoring patients’ treatment, medications, and progress. She also held a faculty position at Sarasota County Technical Institute.

Before moving to Sarasota in 1971, Mrs. Livingston worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, and at the VA hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She also worked as a Registered Nurse at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

She received the MCC Vice President's Award for Teaching Excellence in May 2005.

Mrs. Livingston has worked as a care manager for Proeger & Associates, a care management agency, since 2005. In addition to care management services, she provides consultation on cases. Mrs. Livingston has a master’s degree in nursing and is licensed as a nurse (RN) with the State of Florida.
